In retrospect we really should have finished the job in Afghanistan with the Taliban before launching the military offensive against Iraq, while asserting increasing diplomatic and economic pressures against Iraq in the meantime. Ofcourse Europe was not cooperating in that approach due to heavy investments in Saddam's regime. But the bumbling and clumsy conduct of the war in Iraq would seem to have emboldened Iran and Syria to view us as a "paper tiger" not to be feared. My .02 cents. The invasion was "worse than a crime, it was a blunder".
